Home textile packaging varies significantly by product category, buyer, sales channel and destination market. Wholesale export packing can be relatively simple, while department-store or e-commerce programmes may require detailed retail-ready packaging.
Private-label programmes frequently require more packaging components than generic wholesale orders. Custom branding can include woven or printed labels attached to the product, while packaging itself may require branded hangtags, printed sleeves, barcode labels, boxes or inserts.

E-commerce packaging can differ from traditional retail packaging because the product may be shipped through parcel networks and handled multiple times before reaching the customer.
Packaging may therefore need additional protection while still meeting expectations for branding, unboxing experience and waste reduction.
Custom packaging suppliers commonly require minimum production quantities. Printed boxes, custom bags, labels and tags may therefore have an MOQ different from the product manufacturing MOQ.
If a product order is smaller than the packaging MOQ, buyers should consider whether unused packaging can be stored and applied to repeat orders or whether a simpler packaging format would be more economical for the first production run.
Packaging costs frequently improve with scale because printing setup, die charges, material procurement and manufacturing setup can be distributed across more units. However, packaging prices do not always decrease in a perfectly linear way.
Increasing the number of products packed into a carton reduces the carton cost allocated to each product, but buyers should not maximize carton quantity purely to reduce packaging cost.
Carton loading must also consider gross weight, product compression, dimensional limits, handling safety, buyer requirements and protection during transit.

Outer-carton requirements should be defined before final packaging costing because carton dimensions, board strength, ply, printing and closure requirements affect both packaging price and shipment performance.
Packaging should not be evaluated only by material cost. A low-cost package that substantially increases shipment volume can produce a higher total landed cost than a slightly more expensive but space-efficient packaging format.
This is particularly important for air freight and courier shipments, where volumetric weight can influence chargeable freight. It also matters for ocean shipments because larger cartons can reduce container utilization.
