Important

Nominal Container CBM Is Not the Same as Usable Loading Volume

A container may have a nominal internal volume, but actual cargo rarely utilizes 100% of that space. Rectangular cartons cannot always be arranged without voids, and practical loading can be constrained by door dimensions, carton orientation, cargo weight, pallets and loading sequence.

For this reason, the calculator includes a loading efficiency field. A value such as 80–90% can be used as an initial planning assumption, but the appropriate percentage depends on the actual cargo and packing arrangement.

How to Calculate the CBM of a Master Carton

When carton dimensions are entered in centimetres, each dimension is first converted to metres. Length, width and height are then multiplied to calculate cubic metres.
