There is no universal wastage percentage for textile production. The correct allowance depends on the material, product, cutting method and design.
A simple plain fabric with efficient rectangular panels may have relatively low cutting loss, while a large-repeat printed or directional fabric can require substantially more material.
Patterned fabrics can consume more material than plain fabrics because pattern pieces may need to be positioned so motifs, stripes or checks align correctly.

Cushion-cover consumption depends on finished size, panel count, seam allowance, front and back construction, usable fabric width and decoration requirements.

Curtains require a different approach because consumption depends heavily on finished width, fullness, finished drop, fabric width, hems and vertical pattern repeat.

Bedding consumption can depend on finished mattress size, sheet dimensions, duvet panels, pillowcase construction, fabric width, hems and shrinkage.
