A dimensional-weight calculation alone does not establish the final amount on a freight invoice. Freight services may compare dimensional weight with actual gross weight and may apply rounding, minimum-charge, consolidation or other commercial rules.
The calculator therefore reports volumetric weight rather than claiming to calculate a confirmed carrier chargeable weight.
Consider two cartons with the same actual weight of 10 kg. One compact carton may have only 6 kg dimensional weight, while a much larger carton may have 20 kg dimensional weight.
