Curtain Fabric Calculation Formula

First, the finished curtain width is multiplied by the selected fullness ratio to determine the required flat fabric width. That width is divided by the usable fabric width and rounded upward to determine the number of fabric drops. The finished vertical drop is then increased by heading and hem allowances. If a vertical pattern repeat is entered, the cut drop is rounded upward to a complete repeat. The result is multiplied by the number of drops, sets and optional wastage allowance.

Curtain fullness is the relationship between the amount of flat fabric and the finished curtain width. A curtain with a finished width of 200 cm and 2× fullness needs approximately 400 cm of flat fabric width before seam and construction considerations.

Higher fullness generally produces a richer appearance with deeper folds, but it also increases fabric consumption and manufacturing cost.
